
Whole mace is the outer shell of nutmeg. Mace and nutmeg are the only two spices that are produced from the same plant. The color is bright orange with slight shades tending toward red. The flavor and fragrance resemble those of nutmeg, more delicate, flowery and sweet. Incooking it is very versatile, easily combined with both sweet and savory dishes. It can also be used to prepare exotic-tasting drinks and cocktails.
